    Course Goals

    • This course extends the study of basic programming principles introduced in Programming 1. Advanced concepts of program design, implementation and testing will be introduced within a framework of object oriented programming using the Java programming language.

    Course Goals
    • This course is concerned with the development of applications on mobile and wireless computing platforms. Java will be used as a basis for teaching programming techniques and design patterns related to the development of standalone applications and mobile portals to enterprise and m-commerce systems.

    Engine: Dragon Age: Origins 

    Course Goals

    • Students to further develop their game design and development skills through the development of a functioning game mod from start to finish in groups of up to five using the Dragon Age: Origins toolset.

    Duties
    • Marking and feedback
    • Deliver four tutorials and four lab sessions per week (three repeat)
    • Respond to, and assist with, student course content enquiries
    • Develop tutorial content and progression based on a list of defined learning outcomes. Topics covered included:
      • Toolset introduction, file system, resources & levels (Interior)
      • Levels (exterior), terrain texturing, water, area properties, lighting & models
      • Path finding, exporting levels, areas, props (placeables) & items
      • Area transitions, conversations (part 1), plots, scripts, quests creatures & characters
      • Waypoints, conversations (part 2), stages & cut-scenes (part 1)

    Course Goals
    • Students to further develop their game design and development skills through the development of a fully customised game mod from start to finish in groups of up to five using the Unreal 2004 Engine and toolset.

    Duties (divided by role)

    Head Tutor
    • Keep and maintain course student records
    • Respond and solve student administrative and grade enquiries
    • Oversee and co-ordinate with scripting tutor
    • Send out assignment grades and feedback
    • Finalise, scale and submit final grades

    • Emergency relief tutoring;
    • Advise and assist with the development of a feasible mod development plan; and
    • Assisting students over come the technological and human difficulties faced during the mod development process.
